Pastor Mark

Mark McMahan
Worship Pastor

I was born and raised in the "Heart of Dixie", in Oxford, Alabama, a small town about halfway between Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 14 years old. This was due in large part because of a relationship my worship pastor established with me. He let me see Jesus in him, and showed me the kind of love and leadership that could only come from God, the true Father. One of the passions I have in ministry is to show others this same love to others.

After graduating from Oxford High School in 1979, I received my Bachelor's Degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Al., and did my graduate studies at Samford University in Birmingham. It was while I was in college that I met my wife, Cyndi, and we were married July 24, 1982. I have served in similar ministries in Alabama and South Carolina, before starting here at Berean as Worship Pastor in May, 2005.

The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful, wonderful family. My wife, Cyndi, is my best friend, accountability partner and sweetheart. We have two daughters, Melissa Laine, born in 1985, and Anna Elizabeth, born in 1989.

I am so blessed to be serving as Worship Pastor at Berean. My heart's desire is to see God reveal Himself to us as we worship and adore Him in awe and wonder...

Nicholas Boller
Director of Worship Technology

I was born in San Diego, California and raised in Orchard Park, New York, home of the Buffalo Bills. When I was a young child I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My walk with Christ grew until high school when I became heavily involved in my church's youth group and began to fully understand God's love for me.

After graduating from Orchard Park High School in 1997, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems from The State University College at Buffalo. Since graduation I have acquired an Ohio teaching certification and am working towards a Masters in Education.

Music has always been a passion of mine. As a teen I played bass in a local Christian Alternative Rock Band, and as an adult, I help Pastor Mark set up the behind-the-scene audio and visual technology for our Sunday services.

While helping a friend lead worship at a youth group retreat I met my future wife's brother and mother. They liked me so much that they introduced me to Emily, the love of my life. We were married on August 11, 2007. We currently do not have children, but look forward to the day when our family expands beyond us and our dog Bella.

I enjoy serving part time as The Director of Worship Technology at Berean. My job is to aid Pastor Mark in any way that I can as he leads us in worship to our Creator.

Judy Berry
Administrative Assistant

Praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to serve with the Worship Ministry Team and realize what a heart for Jesus they have. My name is Judy Berry and was considered the church orphan until I married my husband and finally had a family to go to church with. I accepted the Lord when I was twelve years old and the Bible has truly been my guide, but in my thirties I began to feel I was missing something in my Christian walk. I kept searching and could not find what my heart was looking for.

When Berean started a new format for worship many years ago, that first Sunday when the new contemporary service started I realized this was what my heart had been longing for- a way to worship in Spirit and truth and feel the Lord’s presence. If I close my eyes it feels as if the Lord is in front of me and allowing me to worship Him and give Him the honor that He so richly deserves.

Working with the team gives me a glimpse of their hearts and know that their first desire is to bring us into the presence of the Lord. “The glory of the Lord filled the temple.” (II Chronicles 7:1b)

Oh, to have that experience and to actually work in a ministry that creates Spirit filled worship just blesses my heart.
